Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, have arrived the Supreme Court of Nigeria on Friday for the final verdict of the apex court on the disputed March 18 governorship election in their state.
LEADERSHIP reports that the matter is between Governor Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and his main challenger at the poll, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Supreme Court had fixed this Friday, January 12, 2024 to deliver judgement on the appeal filed by Governor Yusuf against the earlier verdict of the Appeal Court, which affirmed the judgement of the Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which declared Gawuna of the APC as the duly elected governor of the state.
LEADERSHIP observed the presence of some other state governors, whose matters will also be decided. They include Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, and his Zamfara State counterpart, Dauda Lawal.
The Supreme Court is expected to decide about eight governorship election disputes this Friday.
