The Kano State Hisbah Board has disrupted an alleged same-sex marriage ceremony at an event hall in Hotoro By-pass area of Kano metropolis on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Reports indicated that the event, held at Fatima Event Center, drew the attention of Hisbah officials after they received intelligence report from some residents of the area.
The Deputy Commander of Hisbah, Dr. Mujahedeen Aminuddeen Abubakar, confirmed the incident in an audio message.
According to him, Hisbah officers stormed the venue late at night, dispersed the gathering, and arrested 25 suspects — 18 men and seven women believed to be involved in the alleged act.
“We received a tip-off that a gay marriage was going on at the venue, so our officials raided the place and arrested the young men and women involved, including the man believed to be the groom,” Abubakar revealed, adding that the attendees were mostly indigenes of Kano State.
“Some of the arrested individuals came from different parts of Kano, including Sheka, Kabuga and Kofar Nasarawa areas within the metropolis,” added.
He stated that all the suspects have been taken to the Hisbah headquarters for further investigation and will be charged to court once investigations were concluded.
Aminudeen urged parents to be vigilant on the activities their children are involved in to avoid corruption of their morals and further spread of same-sex ideologies “We need to monitor our children, pay attention thier friends, where they go and who are they going with, this will help us curb the spread of such behaviours and beliefs amongst youth,” he added.
