The Chairman of the Northern Members of the National Assembly Forum, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has challenged other Nigerian state governors to emulate the Jigawa State government’s Citizens Engagement Program. This program gives electorates direct access to channel their demands to the government.
Hon. Doguwa, who represents Tudun Wada/ Doguwa federal constituency in Kano state, made the call when he joined Jigawa state Governor Malam Umar Namadi in Miga Local Government Area for a session of the Citizens Engagement Program, known as “Gwamnatin Da Jama’a.”
Doguwa noted that the Jigawa program, where the Governor travels to all local government areas to meet with electorates, report on his administration’s achievements over the last two years, and receive their demands, is worth emulating by any democratic leader.
He stated that by going around the state to meet people directly, Governor Namadi has demonstrated confidence that his work aligns with the people’s aspirations.
“Any elected leader who is confident in their work will never be afraid to meet with the people, as Governor Namadi has been doing,” Doguwa said.
He described Governor Namadi’s governance as exemplary, purposeful, all-inclusive, and people-oriented, deeming it highly commendable and a model for every right-thinking democratic leader.
“This program is key for achieving participatory governance, expanding citizen access, and fostering democracy, as well as social and economic growth and development,” he added.
Doguwa maintained that this inclusive process would make it easier for the APC to win the presidential, gubernatorial, and all other seats in the upcoming 2027 general elections, as every electorate is engaged during elections and in the state’s governance process.
