The incident was reported to the Police in December, 2023 while it took operatives of the Kano State Police Command three months to conclude investigation and eventually resolve the matter on Wednesday.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, posted on his personal Facebook page on Thursday morning, said Mohammed had reported himself at the State’s Police Headquarters in Bompai, Kano, in December 2023 and stated that an unknown customer had made a transfer of the sum of Nine Million, Nine Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira (N9,990,000:00) to his business account instead of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000:00).

“On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc directed a team of detectives led by SP Abdulwahab Zubairu from the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to carry out discreet investigation with a view to identify the owner and return his money.

“On the 13th of March, 2024, the investigation was concluded by uncovering the identity of the rightful owner, who is a businessman at Dawanau Grain Market in Kano Metropolis.
