Kano state Governor Abba Yusuf, has described the outcome of the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency bye-election as a litmus test to the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s anticipated victory in the 2027 general elections.

Governor Yusuf said the massive turnout of voters and the peaceful conduct of the election clearly showed that the people remain firmly behind the APC and its programmes.

According to a statement issued by his spokesperson Sanusi Bature, the governor noted that the election was conducted in a free, fair and credible manner, reflecting the genuine choice of the electorate.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the successful conduct of the exercise and applauded security agencies for ensuring a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the election.

According to him, the conduct and outcome of the election have further reinforced public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process.

Governor Yusuf congratulated the APC candidate on his victory and urged him to remain committed to the aspirations of the people through effective and purposeful representation.

He said the result of the election sends a strong message that the APC remains the dominant political force in Kano State and is well positioned for greater victories in future elections.

The Governor also mocked the New Democratic Congress (NDC) for failing to field a candidate in the bye-election, describing the party as a mushroom political movement with no visible grassroots structure.

He said the decision by the NDC to stay away from the contest was borne out of fear of inevitable defeat, knowing fully well that it lacked the support required to compete with the APC.

Governor Yusuf maintained that the bye-election has exposed the weakness of opposition elements in the state and further demonstrated the growing acceptance of the APC among the people.

He reassured citizens of his administration’s commitment to delivering more people-oriented projects and programmes across Kano State.
