The Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KTSCHMA) has reaffirmed the state’s determination to deliver quality healthcare to all residents, especially the most vulnerable.

The Director General of KTSCHMA Muhammad I. Safana, stated this at the national stakeholder meeting held at the Lagos Continental Hotel

He said: “We are proud to share Katsina’s progress and reaffirm our commitment to inclusive health financing. This initiative is transforming lives and strengthening our health system for future generations.”

The meeting, organised in partnership with the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), highlighted Katsina’s achievements under the GAC-supported Primary Health Care (PHC) programme.

Since 2023, the state has expanded health insurance to pregnant women and children under five through counterpart funding and strategic enrollment in the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF).

Katsina’s leadership credited the success to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, whose administration has made health a development priority. “Governor Radda’s commitment to equity and access has been pivotal in driving our health insurance expansion,” the Director General added.

Commissioner for Health Musa Adamu Funtua also lauded the progress, noting, “Through strong policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement, we are proving that universal health coverage is achievable when government and partners work together.”

During a panel on “Value for Money in BHCPF,” KTSCHMA officials discussed enrollee satisfaction, service utilization tracking, and sustainable exit strategies.

The meeting ended with a review of the Year 4 project workplan, aligning with the Federal Ministry of Health’s Health Sector Strategic Blueprint (HSSB) and the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp) to ensure lasting health reforms.
