At the flag-off of the event in Katsina, the special adviser to the governor on girl child education and child development, Jamila Abdu Mani, said the training was part of the Children’s Parliament capacity development programme to expose them to various rudiments of policy making.

“Through this partnership, we aim to empower our children, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become leaders and advocates for change within their communities and beyond.

“The Children’s Parliament capacity development programme is more than just an educational initiative; it is a platform for our children to voice their opinions, to learn about their rights, and to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives and their futures.

“It signifies our collective commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, and supportive environment where every child can thrive,” she said.

While urging the residents of the state to commit themselves to the values of equality, respect, and empowerment, she urged them to ensure that every child has the opportunity to achieve his/her full potential and be free from the constraints of gender or social status.

Earlier, the programme manager of SCI, Altine Lewi, explained that the children will be engaged with activities that will boost their capacity on policy making processes, as they intend to come up with a strategic work plan at the end of the programme.
