The Kebbi State commissioner of police,  Lawal Abubakar Daura, has presented group life assurance scheme cheques worth N49.6m to 20 families of police officers who lost their lives in active service.

This was contained in a statement issued yesterday to journalists in Birnin Kebbi by the command’s spokesman, SP Nafi’u Abubakar.

Daura while presenting the cheques in a brief ceremony held at command’s headquarters said he was presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries on behalf of inspector general of police,  IGP Usman Alkali Baba who approved the total sum to the beneficiaries.

According to him,  the IGP’s gesture is not limited to supporting the families of dead officers but, encourage other officers to redouble their efforts in the serving of the nation.

He advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of what they received in  their daily needs as expected by the police force.
