Kebbi Deputy Speaker, 19 Others Honoured By Gwandu Emir

The emir of Gwandu and chairman of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Muhammed Iliyasu Bashar, has turbaned the deputy speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Sama’ila Muhammed Bagudo, as Darman Gwandu and 19 others with various traditional titles.

Among those honoured by the monarch are Mohammed Sambo Khaleil as Bahindin Bagudo and Alhaji Uwaisu Sa’ad as Dangaladiman Badariya and district head of Badariya under Birnin Kebbi local government area Comrade Faruk Abdullahi Maiyama as 1st Sarkin Gabas of Sarandosa and district head of Sarandosa under Maiyama local government area.

At the ceremony held at the Emir’s Palace in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday, the monarch appealed to the awardees to discharge their duty effectively in their respective domains.

He said they were turbaned based on heredity and merit, while others were based on their contributions to the development of their communities, Gwandu Emirate, Kebbi State and Nigeria.

Alhaji Bashar also urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by bringing rapid development to the emirate.

He said Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris, had directed them to always appoint people with both Islamic and Western education as members of the emirate councils.

On behalf of the honorees, the deputy speaker of the state’s assembly and the new Darman Gwandu (Sama’ila Muhammed Bagudo) assured the Gwandu Emirate of their readiness to support the development of Kebbi State.
