The Kebbi State Government has donated six Toyota Hilux vans and 30 motorcycles to the Nigerian Army as part of ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity in the state.
Presenting the items to the Commandant of the 8 Division Technical, Colonel Hussani Rabi’u Toro, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Nasir Idris reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to logistics support for the military, aimed at enhancing operational capacity to combat terrorists, particularly the Lakurawa bandits and other criminal elements.
“Ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties of Kebbi people remains a top priority of my government.
“The military was the first to benefit from the donation, while other security agencies in the state will soon receive theirs,” he said.
Governor Idris commended the relentless efforts of security personnel, particularly the military, noting their swift response to distress calls during bandit attacks across the state.
He also thanked the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and his counterparts in the Air Force and Navy for considering the establishment of military and naval bases in conflict-prone areas of Kebbi State.
Receiving the vehicles and motorcycles, Colonel Hussani Rabi’u Toro expressed gratitude to the governor for the donation, which he said would greatly enhance the Army’s ability to respond to threats and crush bandit groups, including the notorious Lakurawa faction.
