The director-general of AIFF 2026, Sufiyanu Garba Bena, announced this at a news briefing yesterday in Birnin Kebbi.

he said the meeting headed by the deputy governor, Senator Abubakar Umar Tafida, who is also the chairman of the main organising committee, was held following the directive of Governor Nasir Idris to deliberate on the preparations ahead of the festival.

“In the meeting, we deliberated on the earlier estimate of N7.8 billion, but the Due Process Committee under the directive of the governor amended it to N3.8 billion,” Bena said.

Bena added, “The main committee, however, resolved to study the estimate with the aim of reducing costs while also exploring innovative strategies for revenue generation to support the government’s efforts. ” The DG noted that subsequent meetings would provide more updates as preparation progressed and assured the committee of its commitment to delivering a befitting festival in 2026.
