Kebbi Rep Seeks Federal Government’s Help Over Desert Encroachment

Member representing Arewa/Dandi Federal Constituency of Kebbi State, Hon Rabiu Garba Kamba (rtd) has called on the federal government to urgently intervene and provide succour to his constituency which he says is adversely affected by desert encroachment.

Kamba, who is deputy chairman, House Committee on Navy, said desert encroachment is threatening farming in the area which is the mainstay of his constituents.

The retired military officer, who is also a member of the House Committee on Renewable Energy, said “We are more on the border, we have a lot of border-related problems. We need the federal government to come to our aid; because our major occupation is farming and we have problem of desert encroachment and it is threatening our community” Kamba lamented the state of the Nations power sector, saying “we don’t have steady power supply in Nigeria, but we cannot continue like this,For better service delivery we need solar energy in Nigeria.”

The lawmaker stressed that “it is our collective responsibility to sit down and address our challenges. Technology has brought a lot of changes and opportunities. Our committee (Renewable energy) is a new committee, so we have to take the responsibility. We are going to put in our best in finding a workable solution.’’

The Kebbi State Federal Lawmaker expressed satisfaction with the leadership of the House of Representatives Speaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas and that of the Chairman House Committee on Renewable Energy Hon. Afam Ogene.
