The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, Barrister Kudirat Shu’aibu, gave the charge on behalf of the commissioner, Musa Muhammad Tungulawa, during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise held in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi.

She urged households and shop owners to ensure they clean and evacuate all refuse and waste in their places during the exercise.

Shu’aibu warned that the ministry would introduce a mobile court to arrest and try defaulters of the sanitation regulations.

She added that her participation in the July-ending exercise was to lead by example and encourage other ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to participate in the exercise to make the state capital a clean and healthy environment.

The permanent secretary, however, commended some shop owners and residents along Ahmadu Bello Way in Birnin Kebbi metropolis who came out early and cleaned their houses and shops.
She noted that Governor Nasir Idris wants the state capital to become a healthy and clean environment.
