Following the recent displacement of residents in Yauri, Koko/Besse, Shanga and Ngaski local government areas of Kebbi State by the terrorists, the state government has set up a committee to distribute relief items to the victims.
In a statement issued by the secretary to the state government (SSG), Yakubu Bala Tafida, which was issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, named the committee members as the commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Mohammed Hamidu Jarkuka, the executive secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) SEMA and the chairman of the affected four local government areas.
Other members are Nasiru Bello from the Ministry of Internal Security, representatives of the DSS and the Police, and the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who will serve as secretary.
The statement further indicated that the government has directed the committee to immediately begin distributing relief items to displaced residents.
