The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday re-elected Isaacs Kekemeke as its South-West Zonal Chairman during a congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Kekemeke’s re-election, conducted by consensus through a voice vote, also saw the appointment of seven other zonal executives. The congress drew 3,188 delegates from the six South-West states—Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Oyo.
The newly – elected officials include Alfred Aluko as Secretary, Ismail Majaro as Legal Adviser, Lateef Ibirogba as Organising Secretary, Ayobami Afolabi as Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Yetunde Adesanya as Woman Leader, Barr. Daramola Adesuyi as Youth Leader, and Dayo Ishola as Representative for Persons Living with Disabilities.
During his victory speech, Kekemeke expressed confidence in the party’s strength across the South-West. He assured delegates that his team would deliver improved performance and secure victories in the 2027 governorship elections in Osun, Ekiti, and Oyo states.
Prominent APC dignitaries attended the congress, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Also present were Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Osun APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, Lagos Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, and former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, speaking on behalf of the South-West APC governors, praised the peaceful conduct of the congress. He described it as a demonstration of political maturity and unity in the region while acknowledging the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in supervising the process.
“Today, we have witnessed a free and fair election conducted in line with the provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act. This demonstrates that the South-West remains united and a formidable political bloc,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Chairman of the Zonal Congress Committee, Jide Jimoh, highlighted the South-West’s tradition of progressive politics and confirmed that the exercise complied fully with the 2026 Electoral Act.
APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, represented by National Youth Leader Dayo Israel, congratulated the new executives and urged them to work collectively to ensure the South-West delivers for the President in 2027.
Statutory delegates at the congress included zonal chairmen, former officeholders, current and past governors, members of the National Assembly, state party chairmen, NEC members, and other national convention delegates. The event was widely hailed as a reflection of unity, discipline, and readiness to strengthen the party’s political influence across the South-West.
