Kelly Clarkson has criticised a New York City store after an alleged shopping snub left her questioning how she was treated as a potential customer.
The singer shared her experience on X on Saturday, October 10, saying she had travelled to Brooklyn to browse a shop she liked and planned to purchase several items. However, she claimed a staff member appeared to assume she could not afford the products and offered to find her something comparable instead.
“Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale,” Clarkson wrote before identifying the store and urging followers to visit only if they wanted to experience similar treatment.
The 44-year-old compared the encounter to a scene in the 1990 film Pretty Woman, in which Julia Roberts’ character, Vivian, is denied proper service at a clothing boutique. Vivian later returns to confront the saleswoman, declaring, “Big mistake. Big. Huge.”
Clarkson, who moved to New York in 2023, generally keeps details of her personal life off social media but occasionally shares updates with fans.
In February, she announced she would step away from hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show to prioritise her children, River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 10, following the death of their father, Brandon Blackstock.
The singer expressed gratitude to the programme’s crew, guests, viewers and NBC after seven seasons on air.
