Kidnappers Abduct 3-month-old Baby, Mother In Delta, Demand N25m Ransom

Kidnappers have abducted a woman, Mrs Marian Aganbi and her three-month-old baby, Pedro, in Delta State.

From a chat and phone call to the husband of the victim, the kidnappers demanded the sum of N15 million for the wife and N10 million for the baby, totalling N25 million.

A close family source said that the kidnap occurred on Sunday night along Eku-Abraka Road when she was returning from a visit to her parents, who live in Eku, Ethiope East local government area of Delta State.

Meanwhile, the incessant cases of kidnappings, especially within the Delta North axis of Delta State, are becoming worrisome, prompting the local government council chairmen of Aniocha North and South, Hon. Emmanuel Chinye and Hon. Jude Chukwunwike, respectively, to convene an emergency meeting.

At the meeting, which attracted the representative of the Delta State Commissioner of Police, security agents, and critical stakeholders, a joint security task force was set up to regularly comb their forests with a view of flushing out the killer herdsmen suspected to be behind the act.

Among the five-point communique raised, community-based Vigilante groups were acknowledged as a veritable instrument for community policing and intelligence gathering, and the members of vigilante groups should be profiled and the vigilantes rejigged for optimum performance.

But two days after the gathering, a couple and another woman heading to Church were abducted at different places.

“A couple was kidnapped on Sunday afternoon in Isele-Azagba and one Mrs. Juliana Nzei was also kidnapped on Sunday at the first entrance of DDPA Estate, Agbor while heading to morning mass at St. Michael De Archangel Parish”.

But the Delta State Police Command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe said the command is on top of the situation and that the command recently killed four kidnap gang members during gun battle.
