Kogi: Kashim Labels APC Ward’s Denial Fake, Cites E-Registration As Proof

Former governorship aspirant Idris Hussein Kashim has dismissed an undated letter circulating in the name of All Progressives Congress (APC) Ajaka Ward 1, which claims he was never a member of the party. Kashim described the letter as “irrelevant, unserious, and politically motivated,” insisting that verifiable records confirm his membership up until his formal resignation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, cited on his social media handle ,  Kashim said his political history within the APC is well-established and supported by documents the party itself issued.

He recalled that he joined the APC before the 2015 governorship primaries, during which he contested under the party’s platform after being issued an expression-of-interest form.

He added that he addressed journalists at the APC National Headquarters during the period, noting that “all records of that event remain intact.”

Kashim further revealed that on 7 January 2026, he completed the APC’s digital e-registration process, which the party routinely touts as accurate and up-to-date.

He explained that this e-registration slip alone is enough proof that he remained a legitimate member until his formal resignation letter was submitted.

He argued that the denial from Ajaka Ward 1 fits a longstanding pattern in Kogi State politics.

According to him, similar tactics were used against Mustapha Mona Audu, son of the late Prince Abubakar Audu, when he showed strong ambition within the party. He also cited the 2023 suspension of his brother, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, by Ajaka Ward 1 when his political influence grew.

Kashim said these incidents point to a recurring strategy where any rising political figure who refuses to be controlled or sidelined is suddenly declared “never a member.”

He added that he became the latest target after declining what he described as an offer to remain in the party as a “controlled asset” without the Senate ticket he sought.

Despite the ward-level denial, Kashim emphasized that national recognition of his political work remains strong. He noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Seyi Tinubu had previously entrusted him with the leadership of a respected support group in Kogi State, an honour he said “speaks far louder than any undated document.”

He reiterated that he was a verified member of the APC until the day he formally resigned, stressing that “no fake or undated letter can erase established records.”

Kashim concluded by stating that he remains focused on developmental efforts aimed at improving lives in Kogi East, declaring that political distractions will not deter him.

“The journey to a greater Kogi East and a stronger Kogi State continues,” he said.
