Marta Kostyuk delivered a career-best performance on grass to defeat Jasmine Paolini 6-3, 6-2 and book her place in the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time.
The 24-year-old Ukrainian, who had never won a WTA Tour-level quarterfinal on grass before Wednesday, overpowered the 2024 finalist in just 69 minutes on Centre Court.
Kostyuk won 90% of points behind her first serve and struck 19 winners, avenging two previous losses to Paolini.
“I was a spectator here nine years ago watching Roger [Federer],” Kostyuk said. “To make the walk of honour on Centre Court, I tried to soak it all in.”
Kostyuk, who also reached the French Open semifinals earlier this year, will face ninth seed Linda Noskova in the last four after the Czech beat Elise Mertens in straight sets.
