Kwara APC Backs Speaker Danladi-Salihu For 2027 Governorship Race

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyun local government area of Kwara State on Friday endorsed the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Engr. Yakubu Danladi -Salihu for the 2027 governorship race .

The party also reaffirmed its support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid during a gathering of stakeholders, political office holders, and community leaders in Ijagbo town.

The event drew numerous party leaders, prominent stakeholders, and hundreds of supporters from across the entire Oyun local government area.

The chairman of Oyun local government area, Hon. Akanbi Lawal Olarenwaju emphasised that the endorsement showcased the party’s strong confidence in Danladi- Salihu’s proven legislative achievements, extensive grassroots support, and ability to represent local interests effectively.

He explained that the move was part of a strategic effort to sustain and build upon the development initiatives spearheaded by the current administration in Kwara State.

Lawal added that Danladi- Salihu’s candidacy exemplifies principles of equity and inclusiveness, pointing to his roots in Kwara north and his prominent leadership role among APC speakers nationwide as evidence of his capacity to foster unity and progress in the state.

In his remarks, the deputy speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Ojo Olayiwola, praised the initiative and called on party members to maintain unity, strengthen party cohesion, and work collaboratively to leverage the current momentum in preparation for the 2027 elections.

A member representing Odo Ogun constituency in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Musa Toye said Kwara central and south have had a fair share of governance at the top, adding that it’s the turn of Kwara north to govern the state
