Kwara Gov’t Tasks Teachers On Innovation

The Kwara State Government has charged teachers in the state to embrace innovative teaching methodologies as a means of improving classroom delivery and achieving better learning outcomes among students.

Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development in the state, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe made the call on Thursday at the opening of a two-day workshop on “Innovative Approaches to Teaching English and Mathematics for Better Learning Outcomes” held at Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

Olohungbebe underscored the importance of equipping teachers with 21st-century pedagogical skills that foster professionalism, enhance classroom efficiency and encourage active learner engagement.

He noted that mastery of the English Language was essential for effective communication, while Mathematics remains the foundation of logic and scientific reasoning.

The commissioner stressed that the training was part of deliberate efforts to align the state’s education system with acceptable standards, thereby ensuring continuous access to quality education for all.

Olohungbebe commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering investment in teachers’ development and other reforms in the education sector.

He said such initiatives have continued to raise the quality of teaching and improve learning outcomes across the state.

He also thanked the participants for their sense of duty and commitment, urging them to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop to impact positively on their students.

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Rebecca Bake, also applauded the governor for his quick interventions in teachers’ manpower development.
