Kwara Indigenes in Kaduna (KIK) for Renewed Hope and SYD 2027 have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his approval of the establishment of the Nigerian Army’s 9th Division Headquarters in Ilorin, describing the decision as a landmark step towards strengthening national security and accelerating development in Kwara State.

The group, in a statement signed by its chairman, Nur’deen Olaitan Amodu-Ode, welcomed  Tinubu’s approval for the expansion of the Nigerian Army from eight to 12 divisions and the recruitment of 28,000 additional military personnel to boost the operational capacity of the Armed Forces.

According to the group, the establishment of new Army divisions in Ilorin, Makurdi, Jalingo and Benin City would enhance military deployment across the country, improve response to emerging security challenges and further strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.

It added that locating the 9th Division Headquarters in Ilorin would improve security coverage in Kwara State and neighbouring states while stimulating economic activities, creating employment opportunities, attracting investments and accelerating infrastructure development.

The group said the development would also strengthen Kwara State’s strategic importance within Nigeria’s defence framework and reflect the Tinubu administration’s commitment to inclusive national development.

KIK further applauded the planned recruitment of 28,000 additional military personnel, saying the move would reinforce the Nigerian Army’s capacity to safeguard lives and property and improve operational readiness across the country.

The group also commended officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces for their commitment, professionalism and sacrifices in defending the nation’s territorial integrity, praying for continued wisdom, strength and divine protection for them in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Reaffirming its support for the administration of President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, the group pledged to continue mobilising support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and programmes aimed at promoting peace, security and national development.

It also declared support for the governorship aspiration of Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi (SYD) in Kwara State, expressing confidence that his leadership, if elected, would complement the Federal Government’s development agenda and advance the state’s growth.

The group thanked President Tinubu for what it described as a visionary and far-reaching decision and expressed optimism that the establishment of the Army Division in Ilorin would contribute to lasting peace, improved security and sustainable socio-economic development in Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole.
