The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) has honoured the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) following Nigeria’s historic qualification for its first-ever Olympic beach volleyball event at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
Receiving the award, NVBF President, Engineer Musa Nimrod, commended the CAVB leadership, led by President Bouchra Hajij, for the recognition.
Nimrod described the honour as a significant milestone for Nigerian volleyball, saying it would inspire the federation, coaches and athletes to raise their ambitions ahead of the Los Angeles Olympics.
“This recognition by the CAVB is a monumental milestone for us,” Nimrod said.
“It will greatly inspire our players, our coaches and the entire Federation to rededicate ourselves to achieving even greater heights as we look towards Los Angeles 2028.”
The President of the CAVB Beach Volleyball Commission also disclosed plans for a packed 2027 calendar designed to give African beach volleyball players greater international exposure and competitive experience.
“We are putting together a packed and rigorous 2027 calendar for beach volleyball,” he said.
“Our goal is to ensure our athletes get the necessary international playing time and high-level preparation required to compete globally.”
The NVBF also received a Special Award of Excellence for its vibrant activities throughout the year and sustained commitment to grassroots volleyball development.
The recognition further highlights Nigeria’s growing presence in African beach volleyball as the country begins preparations for its historic Olympic appearance in Los Angeles.
