LA 2028 Olympics: Eguavoen Names Ajibade, Nnadozie, 26 Others For Comoros

Super Falcons interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen has named a 28-player squad for Nigeria’s second-round 2028 Olympic qualifying tie against Comoros next month.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defenders Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin and Ashley Plumptre, midfielders Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini, as well as forwards Asisat Oshoala, Gift Monday and Uchenna Kanu, headline the squad.

Eguavoen has also included several young players, including goalkeepers Christiana Uzoma, defender Farida Abdulwahab, Tumininu Adeshina, midfielder Favour Nkwocha and forwards Shakirat Moshood, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and Janet Akekoromowei.

The invited players have been directed to report to the AM2PM Hotel in Ijebu-Ode on Saturday, 3 October, ahead of the two-legged tie.

Comoros will host the first leg on Friday, 9 October, while Nigeria will be the nominal home side for the return leg on Tuesday, 13 October.

Both matches will be played at the Remo Stars Sports Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, with Comoros unable to host the fixture at home after failing to provide a CAF-approved venue for international matches.

The Falcons will need to prevail over the two legs to progress to the third round of the Olympic qualifying campaign.

The qualifying race for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games consists of five rounds and is scheduled to conclude in December next year.
