Lagos State government has stressed the need for more collaboration with the Organised Private Sector (OPS) to actualise sustainable, nutritious food production.

The commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs Folashade Bada Ambrose-Medebem, made the appeal during the Nestlé for Good Summit 2026, which took place in Lagos.

She pointed out that the Governor Sanwo-Olu-led administration is interested not just in food production, but in nutritious food.

According to her, “The government of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is keenly interested in life-building food that can help build and sustain healthy communities. But the State government alone will not be able to achieve it, so we need the organised private sector’s partnership to build an economically resilient state and a country at large.

AltAlthoughstlé is contributing towards food and nutritious feeding, we discovered that the private sector can help achieve this.”

In his welcome address, the managing director and chief executive officer, Wassim Elhusseini, explained that the event will feature keynote addresses, expert panel discussions, impact showcases, and conversations around Nutrition, Communities, and the Planet, while highlighting how NestléNestlé’sing Shared Value approach contributes to healthier lives and stronger communities across Nigeria.

Elhusseini emphasised that companies reaching millions must be accountable not only for their products but also for their broader impact on society, communities, and the environment.

The ‘Nestl’ for Good’ form highlights the company’s significant investments in agriculture (like regenerative agriculture), youth/women empowerment, and dairy development across Nigeria

The Summit was meant to bring together leaders from government, healthcare, development organisations, academia, civil society, and the private sector to explore practical, scalable approaches to improving nutrition outcomes, strengthening communities, and supporting more sustainable food systems.
