Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said the state will continue to strengthen and develop bilateral relations with Grenada and other countries to improve the state’s economy for the benefit of the residents.

Governor Sanwo-olu said this yesterday when the prime minister of Grenada, Mr Dickon Mitchell, in the company of the chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, paid him a courtesy visit at the Lagos House, Marina.

He highlighted that Lagos State has a lot of opportunities from which Grenada stands to benefit.
Sanwo-Olu noted that Nigeria and Grenada have many potential, adding that the two countries should look at how to advance themselves in the area of culture, tourism, entertainment and get people from Africa to visit the Caribbean.

“We should look at art, culture, entertainment, and look at how we can develop our mineral resources, we need to galvanise the Caribbean-Africa relationship,” he said.

The governor commended Mr Mitchell for his leadership skills and called on African countries to continue to strengthen partnership with them in the area of agriculture, food security, entertainment, tourism and infrastructural development.

The governor also commended Alhaji Dangote for the audacious refinery project he set up in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State, which he noted is the largest in the world, just as he expressed optimism that Nigerians would be the major beneficiaries in the long run.

He told the prime minister that the partnership his country has formed with Aliko Dangote is a good one, and everyone needs to learn from his courage in the business industry.

Earlier, the prime minister of Grenada, Mr Mitchell, said the visit was to consolidate on his investment discussion for Lagos, with Governor Sanwo-olu during his visit to Grenada last year just as he lauded the giant stride of Nigeria in the areas of agriculture, fashion, music and cultural heritage.

Mitchell said part of the plan is to work on logistics for the movement of goods between the two countries.
