15 Concerned All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship Aspirants in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State have said that no one has been endorsed as a consensus candidate in the upcoming local government elections in the state.

Speaking to LEADERSHIP, the coordinators of the 15 concerned chairmanship aspirants for the Ojokoro LCDA election, Mustapha Rasheed and Segun Sekoni, said reports that Mobolaji Sanusi has been endorsed as the consensus candidate for the upcoming election was false, deceptive, and aimed at misleading the public.

According to the coordinators, the list shared by Sanusi was merely an attendance list from a meeting with the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and not an endorsement list.

They, however, stated that there was no agreement, no vote, and no consensus decision reached at the said meeting.

“The attention of the good people of Ojokoro LCDA, party stakeholders, and the general public has been drawn to a misleading and fraudulent claim being circulated on social media by Mr Mobolaji Sanusi and his supporters. This claim suggests that a consensus has been reached within the All Progressives Congress (APC) to adopt him as the party’s sole chairmanship candidate in Ojokoro LCDA.

“We wish to categorically state that this claim is false, deceptive, and aimed at misleading the public. The list being shared by Mr Sanusi was merely an attendance list from a meeting with the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, not an endorsement list. There was no agreement, no vote, and no consensus decision reached at that meeting.

“This act of misinformation is a desperate attempt to gain undue advantage and subvert the democratic process. As of today, seventeen (17) aspirants have picked up nomination forms and are fully committed to participating in the forthcoming primaries.

“It is deeply concerning that Hon. Olotu Emmanuel, a serving member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, is reportedly the key figure behind this manipulation, attempting to force Mr Sanusi on the people of Ojokoro for his political interests.”

The group, therefore, called for a transparent, fair, and credible primary election, saying the LCDA chairmanship position isn’t for the highest bidder.

“We call on the Lagos State leadership of the APC and all relevant authorities to ensure that Ojokoro LCDA conducts a transparent, fair, and credible primary election. No individual or clique has the right to impose candidates against the will of the people.

“Let it be known: Ojokoro is not for sale. The people must decide,” they stated.
