Lagos Police Arraign 2 Men For Alleged Defilement Of Minors

The Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command has arraigned two men for their alleged prolonged involvement in defiling two underage girls at different instances in the state.

Spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin who gave the update on Saturday, said a case of defilement was transferred from Area ‘B’ Apapa to Gender Unit Ikeja on the September 24, 2024, at about 1700 hrs against one Philip Agaku.

“The complainant, the survivor in the case, reported that one Philip Agaku ‘m’ has been having forceful sexual intercourse with her since when she was age 8 (now 15) and that Philip the suspect stopped having sexual intercourse with her in April, 2024,” Hundeyin said.

The Lagos Police spokesman said the suspect has been charged to court on the 4th of October 2024.

In another instance, a 70-year-old Afolabi Michael was reported by the mother at the Iju Division of the state Police Command, that her eleven years old girl was sexually defiled by the defendant.

According to Hundeyin, the case was transferred from the Division to Gender Unit of Lagos State Police Command on September 27, 2024 for discreet investigation.

“The complainant alleged that sometimes in July when school was on vacation and when the school resumed this year 2024 that the survivor was defiled by the suspect.

“She stated further that the suspect had sexual intercourse with the survivor multiple times,” the police image maker said.

He disclosed further that the suspect who was questioned in English Language “confessed that he romanced the survivor, though he denied having sexual intercourse with her, claiming that he has been suffering from weak erection for many years now.”

However, police said the suspect was arraigned in court for defilement on October 10, 2024 and has been remanded.
