Lagos State government t has transferred a total of N1.346 billion to its residents through state’s conditional cash transfer from the National Cash Programme.
The commissioner for wealth creation and employment, Hon. Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe, disclosed this at the ongoing ministerial press briefing at Alausa, Ikeja, to present the scorecard of the Sanwo-Olu’s administration in the first year of the second term in office.
He said the ministry had transferred a total sum of N346, 030,000 as part of bi-monthly Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) to 11,386 households in 12 local government areas namely, Apapa, Amuwo-Odofin, Ajeromi Ifelodun, Agege, Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos Island, Shomolu, Ifako-Ijaiye and Alimosho.

The commissioner said the National Cash Transfer Programme also known as Household Uplifting Programme (HUP) is one of the four social investment programmes anchored by the federal government in conjunction with the World Bank Group.
He said the programme was introduced in September 2016 by the federal government to tackle poverty and hunger, focusing on a more equitable distribution of resources to vulnerable populations, including children, youth, women and people with special needs in all the states of the federation including the FCT.
The commissioner also revealed that Lagos industrial leather hub, Matori, Lagos, is set for commissioning by July, adding that a total cost of N4 billion was used in its construction.
He said the hub will create employment, develop capacity of artisans and provide necessary equipment and infrastructure for MSMMEs operating in the leather value chain, adding that the hub facilities include the production area with industrial equipment (for mass production of leather products) and shopping area that comprises shops, training rooms , work stations, office space, showroom etc.
“Lagos State government has spent not less than N4 billion on Lagos State Leather hub in Mushin. I can confirm to you authoritatively that the hub will be commissioned by July this year,” Ajigbotafe said.
