Contrary to the claims by the  chairman of Langtang North local government council of Plateau State, Bitrus Zulfa Rimven, that the legislative arm of the council did not serve him a notice of impeachment, the deputy leader and councilor representing Pwajat ward, Dindam Longbap Wuyep, has said he was served on August 31 but failed to respond to the allegations to clear himself.

Wuyep made the disclosure to LEADERSHIP Weekend in Jos after submitting the resolution of the Langtang North legislative arm to the speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda, to investigate the activities of the chairman.

Wuyep pointed out that for the APC to make any meaningful impact in the 2023 general elections in the area, the assembly must raise up to its responsibility to ensure that justice is served.

“The legislative arm has moved a motion that the assembly should investigate the allegations as contained in their letter of complaints so that peace will reign in Langtang North local government council,” he said.

Among the allegations against the former chairman are siphoning of over N300,000,000 from the local government’s coffers, failure to constitute the executive arm of the council, thereby running the affairs of the council alone in clear contrast to provisions of Section 34 (c)of Plateau State Local Government Council Law 2016.

Speaking on the  committee set up by the assembly to look into the matter, Wuyep said by law the assembly should be served the letter of complaints which they forwarded to the speaker for necessary action, adding that if they had not sent the letter how would the house constitute a committee headed by Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan to look into the matter.

“I believe that the house of assembly members are people of integrity. I do not believe that they will set up a committee without seeing our letter of complaints,” he said.

The deputy leader also denied speculations that Langtang North legislative arm was being sponsored by AVM Napoleon Bali( rtd), the PDP Plateau South Senatorial candidate to remove Barr. Bitrus Zulfa Rimven from office. He noted  that the allegation is untrue, adding that they were only exercising their constitutional responsibility.
