Late-night Zamfara Attack Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Injured In Maru

One person has been confirmed dead, while two others sustained injuries following a late-night attack in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on X on Monday night, noting that the attack occurred around 11:15 p.m. on May 17, 2026.

According to the report, troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Bingi received a distress call about an attack on Dan Jugku village and quickly moved to the scene.

On arrival, soldiers reportedly found that three residents had been shot during the attack.
One victim was confirmed dead on the spot, while the two injured persons were evacuated to a clinic in Bingi for medical attention.

The injured victims are currently receiving treatment.

Security sources also said efforts are ongoing to restore calm in the area, with intensified patrols in surrounding communities aimed at preventing further attacks and tracking down the assailants.
