The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has unveiled plans to collaborate with a youth-led organisation to strengthen environmental cleanliness campaigns across Lagos.

The managing director/chief executive officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, disclosed this during a meeting with the youth group’s leadership at the Authority’s headquarters in Ijora-Olopa.

He explained that the initiative is designed to mobilise young people across the state by expanding advocacy and sensitisation efforts throughout all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.

Highlighting the critical role of youth participation, Dr Gbadegesin noted that LAWMA already engages over 100,000 young people both directly and indirectly.

He emphasised that their creativity and energy are essential for improving service delivery and driving behavioural change within communities.

LAWMA has consistently partnered with Community Development Associations (CDAs) and Community Development Committees (CDCs) to deepen grassroots engagement, address service-related concerns, and ensure adherence to waste management regulations.

‎The agency expressed optimism that its collaboration with the EKO 57 Support Group will further strengthen community-based sensitisation and enhance residents’ environmental consciousness.
