The member representing Ohafia South state constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Kalu Mba Nwoke, has welcomed the state government’s push to address seven years’ blackout in Ohafia local government area.

Nwoke spoke with LEADERSHIP Weekend in Umuahia, the state capital, in reaction to the government announcement that a power restoration project in the area had reached 85 percent.

The commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, had stated this while addressing the media on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council meeting chaired by the governor, Alex Otti, in the capital.

”The Ohafia Power Restoration Project has reached 85 per cent completion,” he noted, revealing that the target date for completion of the project would be before the end of the second quarter of this year.

Nwoke, who is the chairman of the House Committee on Environment and Urban Renewal, said, when completed the project would be another turning point by the Otti administration in the area.

‎”And this is why we must, as lovers of the ongoing transformations by the administration across the area, support and stand behind the governor for more democracy dividends,” he maintained.

‎He appreciated the governor for the power restoration project and other ongoing infrastructure developments across the constituency, saying the people would remain greatful to him for the projects.

‎”It is a pity that for the past seven years the area has been in total blackout. With this intervention the end is now in sight. Thanks be to the governor,” the chairman observed.

‎

Nwoke, who assured the governor of “the people’s total support for him in the 2027 general election”, urged them to ensure they prepared for the election by obtaining their Permanent Voter’s Card.
