Lee Cronin’s new film, ‘The Mummy’, has just dropped its trailer on YouTube, but it has drawn negative reviews and sparked interest among netizens.
‘The Mummy’ plot is centred around a couple whose daughter Katie was missing for eight years, only for her to turn up alive after being rescued from a 3,000-year-old Sarcophagus (ancient Egyptian coffins) with 57 others. Desperate to have their daughter back, the couple takes her home. Unfortunately, the half-dead-looking Katie unleashes terror on her family that could end in the deaths of her family members.
Netizens bashed the film trailer for several reasons. It was not ‘The Mummy’ return they’d been clamouring for without actor Brendan Fraser, who played the protagonist Rick O’Connell in the original film created, written, and directed by Stephen Sommers.
Furthermore, the plot and the character Katie’s terrifying marionette-like features made it difficult for viewers to suspend disbelief, even though some tried.
