The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday, received the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), Ayo Sotinrin, in her office at the State House, Abuja.

Speaking to State House Correspondents after the visit, Sotinrin said the various initiatives of the First Lady in the area of agriculture had been yielding positive results, not only in enhancing food security but also in supporting maternal and child healthcare.

He stated that the meeting focused on working out final details for the rollout of the National Community Food Bank programme, recently announced by the First Lady.

According to him, the initiative is designed to address child malnutrition in the country and will also tackle malnutrition from the source by promoting bio-fortification of food from the production stage.

Sotinrin expressed optimism that the programme would contribute to raising healthier future generations of Nigerians.

He added that the “Every Home A Garden” initiative of the First Lady was also discussed, noting that the Bank of Agriculture is considering a scheme for female civil servants, which they can access through the programme, as part of efforts to further drive the Federal Government’s food security agenda.

Recently, at the 2026 National Traditional and Religious Leaders Summit on Health, the First Lady flagged off an advocacy and awareness campaign for the National Community Food Bank programme, designed to address child malnutrition in the country.
