Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Sunday, charged Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo to see his re-election as a demonstration of the love from the people of the state, saying this should inspire him towards delivering more on the dividends of democracy.
Governor Abiodun, who is also the chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, congratulated Governor Soludo who is the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at the just-concluded Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
In a congratulatory message issued in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, Governor Abiodun also stressed the need for Soludo to unite all political tendencies in the state for the development of Anambra State.
He said the results of the governorship election as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) clearly revealed in an unmistakable terms that the people of Anambra State have huge confidence Soludo’s leadership.
Soludo had emerged winner of the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday, following the announcement of results from all the 21 local government areas by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to INEC, Soludo secured 422, 664 out of a total of 584, 054 valid votes cast during the poll, defeating his closest challenger, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99, 445 votes, as well as the ADC (8,208 votes) and PDP (1,401 votes), by a landslide.
“I heartily congratulate my brother and Vice Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and urge him to continue inspiring the people of Anambra State with life-changing policies and projects.
“With the results of Saturday’s election, the people of Anambra State spoke in clear, unmistakable terms, affirming their belief in the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
“By uniting various political tendencies in the state, he will further consolidate on the dividends of democracy under his leadership in Anambra State,” he said.
Abiodun, who lauded Soludo for always extending the hands of fellowship to the President Bola Tinubu-led federal administration, urged him to keep the flag of democracy and good governance flying.
