The director-general of the Civil Society Organisations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative, Kunle Yusuff, has urged the federal government to leverage the grassroots networks and expertise of civil society organisations (CSOs) and community-based organisations (CBOs) in tackling insecurity across Nigeria.

Yusuff, who spoke on behalf of accredited CSOs and CBOs in Nigeria, said the groups were ready to partner with the government to address the security challenges.

They extended heartfelt condolences to victims of insecurity across the country, praying for the souls of those who lost their lives and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

In a statement he issued yesterday, Yusuff said, “As key stakeholders in national development, CSOs and CBOs play a vital role in promoting peace, stability, and security. We possess grassroots networks, community trust and expertise that can support government efforts to address insecurity.”

The groups urged the federal government to leverage their collective strengths to provide credible information and early warning systems, support intelligence gathering and analysis, facilitate community engagement and dialogue, and promote peacebuilding and conflict resolution initiatives.

They emphasised that the national leaders of CSOs and CBOs were committed to working  with the government to build a safer, more secure and prosperous Nigeria.
