In furtherance of the long-standing partnership between Lions Clubs International and the United Nations, the Multiple District Council Chairperson of MD 404 Nigeria, Lion Ibrahim Jide Bello, paid a strategic visit to the UN Resident Coordinator.
The engagement was held in preparation for the upcoming Lions Day with the UN and to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration in addressing shared humanitarian and development priorities.
Lion Ibrahim Jide Bello was accompanied by Multiple District Lions Day with the UN Coordinator, Lion Joyce Akpata; Past District Governor Lynda Odu-Okpeseyi and Second Vice District Governors Charles Opusunju and Lamidi Dele Tajudeen, demonstrating a unified leadership approach to global service.
During the meeting, the UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Mohamed Fall, affirmed the United Nations’ commitment to working closely with Lions in addressing priority areas of mutual interest, emphasizing that strengthened collaboration would enable greater and more sustainable impact across communities.
Discussions focused on leveraging Lions’ extensive grassroots volunteer network to complement UN initiatives in areas such as community health, youth empowerment, education, and humanitarian service delivery.
Lions International has enjoyed consultative status with the United Nations for decades, with “LIONS DAY WITH THE UNITED NATIONS” (LDUN) serving as an annual platform to highlight the power of volunteerism, partnership, and shared global responsibility.
