The police on Monday dragged a 60-year-old man, Sanusi Ayodele, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, over alleged shop breaking and stealing.
Ayodele, whose address was not provided, is charged with conspiracy, shop breaking and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Olagoke Adegbenro told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 7 at about 10.00 a.m. at Ogunpa market, Ibadan.
Adegbenro alleged that the defendant conspired with others at large to break into the shop of one Mrs Omotayo Adeneye.
He alleged that the defendant stole baby beds and clothes worth seven million naira.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 390(9), 411 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million naira with two reliable sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 3 for a hearing. (NAN)
