Man Arrested For Alleged Murder Of Sister’s Boyfriend In Kano

A 25-year-old man, Mansur Umar, has been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly killing his sister’s boyfriend during a visit in Kunya Village, Minjibir local aovernment area of the State.

According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident occurred on the evening of Friday, May 9, 2025, around 9:30pm. The victim, identified as Sulaiman Musa, also 25-year-old and a resident of Goda Village in the same LGA, had reportedly gone to visit his girlfriend, Fiddausi Umar, at her residence.

It was during the visit that Fiddausi’s brother, Mansur Umar, allegedly struck Sulaiman on the head with a stick, inflicting a serious injury on the victim. He was initially rushed to Kunya Cottage Hospital and later referred to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at 12:50am on Saturday.

The police said the suspect has been taken into custody and that the case is currently being handled by the Homicide Section of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, condemned the act and called for calm, urging residents to embrace peaceful conflict resolution.

He further encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as part of efforts to maintain law and order in the State.
