A suspected thief was apprehended inside a ward at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, after allegedly stealing a mobile phone.

A video shared on Facebook on Monday by Oyo Affairs showed the suspect being caught shortly after the incident, with the stolen item reportedly recovered on the spot.

Medical personnel at the hospital expressed concern over what they described as a rising trend of theft within the tertiary medical facility.

They said the hospital community has, in recent times, recorded several cases involving stolen phones, laptops, and motorcycles belonging to staff, patients, and visitors.

The incident has sparked renewed concerns over security at the country’s premier University teaching hospital, with calls for tighter surveillance and improved measures to safeguard lives and property within the facility.
