A man identified as Emmanuel Akos from Kachia local government area of Kaduna State has taken to his Facebook page to thank God for saving his life and that of his wife following the discovery of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on his farm land.
According to Akos, the discovery was reported to military officers stationed at Gumel in Kachia, who followed him immediately and detonated the explosives.
“Heavenly Father, I am deeply grateful for your divine protection and guidance this morning. l and my wife went to farm along Federal University of Applied Science Kachia, we discovered a bomb planted on the farm.
“Thank you for keeping us safe and giving me the clarity to act swiftly in calling the national intervention force stationed in Gumel Kachia. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the brave officers that followed me immediately after reporting.
“I appreciate your quick response and courage to ensure our safety and the security of the land. Your unwavering dedication is a blessing. Thank you Lord for your mercy for the heroes who serve to protect us. I pray for your promotion to the next rank IJN,” Akos wrote.
However, the Vice Chairman of Kachia LGA, Hon. Hussain Saddam who could not confirm the occurrence noted that the explosive device could possibly be a military training hardware.
According to him, “Kachia is a military zone to some extent, and some of these things are military hardware during their trainings and whenever such are found, experts are called up on to go and detonate it accordingly.
“People have been advised to be vigilant and report anything like that immediately to the authorities because the areas are used as military training ground and it is a natural ground used for shooting range.
“So we have a Nigerian school of artillery, so nobody planted any bomb; perhaps it’s one of those training items, so our call is for people to be vigilant”.
Saddam, however, promised to contact relevant security authorities on the discovery and revert, but no feedback has been received from him.
Meanwhile, further efforts to get reactions from the Kaduna State Police Command and the military were unsuccessful as at the time of filing the report.
