Man Docked For Threatening To Set Own Wife, Children Ablaze In Ekiti

A 55-year-old man, Afolabi Samuel, has been arraigned by the police before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly threatening to kill his wife and children.

The defendants had allegedly on June 22, at about 09am at Olokuta Matthew area of Ado-Ekiti, threatened to kill his wife and children by setting them ablaze with petrol and matches.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants on the same date, time and place in the Magisterial District, did conduct himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace.

Inspector Oriyomi said the offence is punishable under Section 69, 181(d) Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Joy Raphael, urged the court to admit his client to bail, saying he will not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant a bail of N50,000, with one surety in like sum.

He consequently adjourned the case till July 22 for hearing.
