Manchester United are poised to appoint former Hearts head coach Eva Olid as the new manager of their women’s team following the departure of Marc Skinner.
The 40-year-old Spaniard is expected to meet the squad on Wednesday as preparations continue for the new Women’s Super League (WSL) season.
Olid arrives after a successful spell with Scottish side Hearts, where she guided the club to their first-ever Scottish Women’s Premier League title last season, finishing two points clear of Rangers.
She also led Hearts to their maiden domestic cup final in 2024, although they were beaten by Rangers in the Scottish Cup final.
Having joined the Edinburgh club in 2021, Olid signed a contract extension until 2026. However, Hearts announced in April that both parties had agreed to part ways at the end of the 2024/25 campaign after the team finished fifth, following consecutive fourth-place finishes.
Her appointment comes after Manchester United confirmed the departure of Marc Skinner by mutual consent on Monday, just a month before the start of the new WSL season.
Olid is now expected to take charge at Leigh Sports Village as United look to begin a new chapter under her leadership.
