Manchester United Sign Baleba From Brighton In £70m Deal

Manchester United have completed the signing of Cameroon international Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion on a five-year contract, with an option for a further year.

The midfielder joins United in a deal worth an initial £65 million, with a further £5 million potentially payable in add-ons.

Baleba described the move to Old Trafford as the fulfilment of a dream and expressed his excitement at beginning a new chapter with the club.

“It is an incredible feeling to join the club of my dreams,” Baleba said. “Playing at Old Trafford is always special, but the opportunity to do so as a Manchester United player will be a real honour.”

The 22-year-old also welcomed the opportunity to work under head coach Michael Carrick, praising the former England international’s experience and football knowledge.

“I cannot wait to work with Michael Carrick; his experience and knowledge of the game make him the perfect coach to help me to reach the highest level,” he said.

Baleba, who established himself as one of Brighton’s key midfielders, is expected to strengthen United’s options in the centre of the pitch as the club seek to challenge for major honours.

The Cameroon international said he was impressed by United’s ambitions and vowed to contribute to the club’s pursuit of success.

“The ambition of everyone at the club is extremely clear, the future is hugely exciting, and I am determined to play my part in delivering the success that we are capable of together,” he added.

The move makes Baleba one of United’s major acquisitions ahead of the new season as Carrick continues to shape his squad at Old Trafford.
