Meghan Markle Reunites With Malala Yousafzai in First London Outing Since Return to Britain

Meghan Markle has made her first known public appearance in London since returning to Britain with Prince Harry and their two children.

The Duchess of Sussex, 45, was seen dining with Nobel Peace Prize laureate and girls’ education advocate Malala Yousafzai at Claridge’s in Mayfair on Wednesday, October 7.

A photograph of the pair at the renowned London hotel was shared on X, marking Meghan’s first reported public sighting in the capital since the Sussexes moved back to Britain with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet on August 26.

The meeting also brought together two women who have previously collaborated on girls’ education. In October 2020, Meghan and Harry joined Malala for a virtual conversation to mark International Day of the Girl, focusing on the importance of education for girls around the world.

Following the conversation, Malala said she and Meghan were united in their belief that expanding girls’ access to education benefits society as a whole.

Meghan’s latest appearance comes days after she and Harry were photographed holding hands while visiting the Falkland Arms pub in the Cotswolds on October 2. The couple were reportedly treated like other customers during the low-key outing.

The Sussexes’ return to Britain has already included several private and social outings. In September, Meghan was also seen at The Three Horseshoes, an 18th-century pub near Burford in Oxfordshire, where she spent an afternoon with longtime friends Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, who were formerly her neighbours in Montecito.

Although Meghan and Harry have returned to Britain for an extended stay, they continue to maintain their California home in Montecito.

For Meghan, the dinner with Malala adds another public appearance to a developing picture of the Duchess reconnecting with Britain while continuing her longstanding involvement in issues surrounding women and girls.
