The church also called for urgent overhauling of the nation ‘s security architecture, to save the nation from insecurity that has bedeviled the nation in recent times.
It made the call at the just concluded second annual synod which took place at Ikot Omini, Eno-Abasi Circuit, Calabar.

The church advocated for a review of the minimum wage, subsidy regime, and foreign exchange, among others known to be responsible for the economic hardship faced by Nigerians.
A communique released by the synod at the end of the ceremony called for the review of the nation’s agricultural policy that would bring food security to the country.
The communique signed by synod Lay President Gabriel Inyang, synod secretary Very Rev. Anthony Essien and synod chairman of the occasion Bishop Otuekong Ukut called for the prosecution of corrupt leaders who had plundered the national economy.

“The synod calls on government at all levels to reduce the cost of governance and look more at the welfare of workers and the vulnerable for effective service delivery,” it said.

Reflecting on the Synod’s theme “Arise and Build, Nehemiah 2: 18,” the synod lauded the Cross River State governor Bassey Otu for roads infrastructure rehabilitation, charging him to do more so that Calabar city and the entire state can regain its lost glory as the number one clean and green state in Nigeria.
