Millwall have firmly turned down a €20 million (£17m approx.) offer from Ipswich Town for their Nigerian winger Femi Azeez, according to multiple reports. The bid, which was submitted earlier this week, falls well short of the Lions’ valuation of the 24-year-old following a breakout Championship season.
Azeez was one of the standout performers in the second tier during the 2025/26 campaign. The former Reading man registered 11 goals and eight assists in 37 appearances across all competitions, forming a devastating attacking partnership with Millwall’s frontline.
His pace, dribbling, and end product earned him a place in the prestigious Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season — a rare honour for a Millwall player in recent years.
The south London club are under no pressure to sell. Azeez still has two years remaining on his current contract, and Millwall are understood to be seeking a significantly higher fee — potentially in excess of £25 million — to even consider parting ways with their prized asset.
According to FootballInsider (via Football League World), a number of Premier League clubs have also registered their interest in Azeez, with scouts regularly attending Millwall games in the second half of the season. While Ipswich, now an established top-flight side under their current manager, moved first with a formal offer, they are unlikely to be the last.
Azeez, who joined Millwall from Reading in 2023, has developed into one of the most feared wide players outside the Premier League. His ability to beat defenders on either flank, combined with improved decision-making in the final third, has drawn comparisons with the division’s most prolific creators.
For Millwall, rejecting the bid sends a clear message: they will not be bullied into selling their star man on the cheap, especially to a domestic rival.
With Premier League vultures circling and Ipswich expected to return with an improved offer, the future of Nigeria’s emerging wing talent promises to be one of the summer transfer window’s defining sagas.
