Minaret University, Ikirun, has inducted its first set of students into its academic community at its maiden matriculation on Thursday, 30th April, 2026.
The event, conducted by the vice-chancellor, Prof. Abdur-Rahman Oladele Abdullah, signalled the commencement of full academic activities and the nurturing of its pioneer cohort.
A total of 12 students were matriculated during the ceremony, according to a statement issued by the registrar, Mr Oluyide Olu-Lawal. The pioneer intake comprises seven Computer Science students, one for Information Technology, two Cyber Security students, and two Accounting students.
The ceremony also featured the inauguration of the Parents Consultative Assembly (PCA) by the chancellor, Barr Azeez Folorunso Alatoye. The PCA is designed to serve as a platform for sustained engagement between the university and parents, fostering collaboration, mutual understanding and shared responsibility in the academic and moral development of students.
Alatoye emphasised the importance of parental involvement in higher education, describing the assembly as a vital bridge that would strengthen communication and support systems within the university community.
The event attracted members of the Governing Council, principal officers, staff, parents, community leaders, and education-sector stakeholders.
