Minister of state for police affairs, Hon Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has lauded the Nigeria Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) on its 40th anniversary and for fostering collaboration, trust, and understanding between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.

In her remarks, the minister who promised the administration‘s desire to continue implementation of deep police reforms, added that the 40-year milestone is not only a confirmation of the enduring legacy of community policing in Nigeria, but also a clear reminder of the invaluable contributions of the PCRC.
While commending the landmark achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in critical areas of the economy, and especially on security, Ibrahim Sulaiman announced that the ministry is actively engaged in implementing a Renewed Hope Police Reform and Transformation.

According to her, the comprehensive Reform Roadmap, structured around five pillars, includes community policing as one of its core components. She said the PCRC holds a central position in the police reform agenda of this administration, „and we are steadfast in our commitment to fully implementing the community policing strategy outlined in the Police Act of 2020.“

She said, „As we reflect on the journey of the PCRC over the past four decades, we are reminded of the vital role it has played in bridging the gap between the police force and the public. Since its establishment, the PCRC, through its tireless efforts in facilitating open dialogue, community engagement, and crime prevention initiatives, has significantly contributed to building trust and cooperation between the police force and the public.

Its commitment to fostering transparency, accountability, and respect within law enforcement agencies is commendable and serves as a shining example for others to emulate.
